Point Edward Peewee Blackhawks take 2 - 0 Win Over Sabres

November 1
, 2012

The Point Edward Peewee team hosted the South Huron Sabres in the Point and came away with a well- played and disciplined 2-0 win over the Sabres in Lambton-Middlesex league action.

The Point pressured the Sabres early but as the period went on the Sabres began to get their legs and began playing the Hawks physically and keeping them off their rhythm. The Hawks capitalized on a Sabres defensemen miscue when he fanned on a shot to clear the zone and Kennedy got a break and put it in the top shelf to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead after one

The Point Edward team was passing well and the Sabres were aggressive to the puck which made for an interesting watching game. Midway through the period South Huron was able to control the play in the Point zone but with the defense playing well it limited South Hurons scoring opportunities. Late in the period, the Hawks had a power play opportunity with Burrowes taking a shot that beat the Sabres goalie and trickled across the crease but Lamore wasn’t able to slam it in.

The first part of the third was played at center ice with neither team able to muster up a good scoring drive. Archer came up big at the 10 minute mark when the defense couldn’t handle a bouncing puck to keep the Hawks lead at 1-0. The Point’s defense played great to help keep the lead by stopping the puck before it got anyway near the net. As time ran down, the Sabres began to hit hard to try to tie the game but King put the game out of reach with a soft slider that beat a screened Sabres goalie and give the Hawks a 2-0 win.

Archer got the shut-out for the Hawks in net.
