Jr Sting Minor Midget A/AA get Stung

November 6, 2012

Sarnia Sting Minor Midgets got stung by Stratford Warriors at Allman Arena Sunday evening by the score of 7-3. It was a blow after big wins recently over London Jr. Knights and Waterloo Wolves.

The game started out well for Sarnia when Jeff Williams scored early at the 13:48 mark assisted by Gage Riddoch and Dillon Saunders. Stratford tied it up 1-1 on an unassisted power play goal at 8:50. Kyle Adams struck back for an unassisted Sarnia goal a little over a minute later to again give Sarnia the lead. Stratford tied it up again with a goal at 5:58 which is where it stayed at 2-2 after one period.

The Warriors took the lead at 11:18 of the second then added two others at 9:23 and 6:20 to take a secure 5-2 lead after two. They outskated the Sting and placed forechecking pressure on Sarnia throughout the second out muscling  Sarnia players at times.

In the third, Michael Pearce gave Sarnia some hope with a goal at 10:36 assisted by Devin Butler and Kevin Durco. It drew Sarnia within two but was short lived as Stratford scored again 18 seconds later. Following a string of penalties on both sides, the Warriors added their seventh goal to close out the scoring at 1:30. Mat Szabo stopped 27 Stratford shots on net while Owen West for Stratford made 25 saves.
