Wallaceburg, On - The Alvinston Flyers travelled to Wallaceburg on Wednesday in Great Lakes Jr C hockey league action and took a 5 - 2 win over the struggling Lakers.
Both sides were even with two apiece after the first period with Josh Moore putting Alvinston on the scoreboard first. Kody Ryan and Jordan Eagan score the next two giving Wallaceburg the lead for the first and only time of the game. Alvinston's Chad Vaneyk scored the final goal of the period.
In the second Alvinston scored two power play goals with Tyler Kettler scoring the game winning goal just :40 seconds into the period. Jak McPhail scored the second goal in the period. In the third Kole Keating scored the final goal also on the power play.
Alvinston went 3 for 10 on power play opporutnities, Wallaceburg went 1 for 5.
Alvinston out shot Wallceburg 27 - 22. Jamie Morreau earned the win with 20 saves, Joel Sowinski took the loss turning away 22.
Alvinston is now in fourth place in the standings race with a record of 11 wins - 8 loss - 1 OTL - 2 SOL for a toal of 25 points. Wallaceburg is second from the bottom with a total of 16 points going 7 wins - 13 loss - 2 SOL.
Alvinston is back in action on Friday when they take on Wheatley at home with a game start at 7:30 pm. Wallaceburg will travel to Blenheim on Saturday for a 6:15 pm game start.
