October 22, 2012

Three game weekend for the Atom B Lady Sting, proves to be successful.

On the road Friday evening in St Marys, the girls beat the home team by a score of 2-0. Scoring for the Lady Sting, was Brooke "Gus" Lauwers, and Sydney Rogers. "Team defence, had shutdown the St Marys team", said Coach Chad Williams. Abbie Clouse was praised by the coaching staff for her efforts in net.

Another away game in Woodstock, on Saturday afternoon, the Lady Sting met one of their toughest opponents yet. The Woodstock Wildcats, operate with a short bench and an exceptional goaltender. It was still not enough, as the Lady Sting scored mid-way through the third period to take the lead. Abbie Clouse was called upon, with only two seconds remaining, to make a game winning save. Scoring was Brooke "Gus" Lauwers.

Coach Williams, said "the girls just continue to find ways to win".

On Sunday afternoon, at the RBC Center, in a penalty free game, the Lady Sting faced a much improved London Devilette team. After two scoreless periods, Coach Williams asked his team to "step it up", as they were "out worked" during those two periods. At 5:04 of the third period, someone named "Gus", broke the tie with a nice shot past the London goalie. The Lady Sting coaches are pleased with the way their team is passing the puck, in both the neutral and offensive zones. Chad Williams said `` all of our games have been close, not winning by large margins, but winning``.

The Atom B team sit atop their division, with another home game on
Tuesday October 23rd at Sarnia Arena.
