October 26, 2012

October 24 - The Jr. Vikings football team cleared a path the LSSAA finals, with a semi-final win over a hard-fighting St. Pat's team.

The Vikings scored early in the first quarter when quarterback Kobe Lundy kept the ball and scored on a 45 yard run. Blake Maxfield kicked the extra point. Niles Crews racked up the next two majors for the Vikings on runs of 15 and 35 yards, in the later minutes of the quarter. Lundy scored again at the end of the 1st from 55 yards out. Maxfield converted on all three. Lundy opened the scoring in the 2nd on a 10 yard run, and Maxfield recovered a fumble and took the ball 70 yards for the second Viking major of the quarter. Maxfield kicked extra points for both touchdowns and added a field goal to make the halftime score Vikings 45, Irish 0.

Jordan Walsh added the final Vikings' touchdown of the game in the 3rd quarter with a defensive fumble recovery that he turned into a 75 yard run into the endzone. Maxfield kicked the extra point. The Irish put two touchdowns on the board late in the 4th and made good on both extra point attempts.

The final score was Vikings 52, Irish 14.
