Point Edward Blackhawks Battle Predators to a 3 - 1 Win

October 26, 2012

The Point Edward Bantam Blackhawks travelled to Forest to play the Lambton Shores Predators in the second game of the 2012 Lambton-Middlesex League season and came away with a hard fought 3-1 victory.

The first started a little slow with both teams defense controlling the flow of the game and neither teams offense really producing any strong opportunities. Even though the defense was pushing the Predators offense to the outer edges of Point zone, the Predators were able to get on the board first with a shot from the blue line through heavy traffic to make it 1-0. Seconds later, Canie was able to tie it for the Point off a rebound from the face-off in the Predators zone to make it 1-1.

The Hawks started the second period strong when Moro drove into the Predators zone and passed to Terpstra who hit the top shelf with a wrist shot from the right side boards to make it 2-1. The remainder of the period was back and forth until late in the period when the Hawks got into a little penalty trouble but were able to keep their lead going into the third.

The third saw both teams make a strong push to put one in the net, but the defense on both teams limited any second opportunities. As the game was coming to a close the Point was able to take advantage of the extra man due to a Predators tripping penalty when Saint knocked in a loose puck in front of the net to put the game away and give the Point their second win of the season.

Fortey and Gibbs once again shared the net-minding duties for the win.
