The Sarnia
Legionnaires were in
St. Catharines on
Saturday as part of
the Greater Ontario
Junior Hockey
League's annual
Showcase event.
The Legionnaires
went up against the
Elmira Sugar Kings
and took a 3 - 1
win.
Elmira's Mitch
Wright scored the
first goal in the
first peirod at
6:12, the lead was
short lived as Jeff
Bauer scored the
equalizer thirty
seconds later.
Derek D'Andrea and
Brent Sauve
assisted. With
a second remaining
on the clock Jason
Teschke scored the
go ahead goal on a
powerplay goal from
Jeff Bauer and Davis
Boyer. The
last goal of the
game was scored by
Josh Kestner at
12:14 in the second
with Zack Tuchklaper
and Jeff Paulley
assisting.
Sarnia
fought off 18
penalty minutes on 9
infractions allowing
six power play
opportunities.
Sugar Kings took 12
minutes on 6
allowing one power
play goal.
Elmira outshot
Sarnia 42 - 28.
Outstanding
netminding by Sean
Parker earned the
win for the
Legionnaires with a
total of 41 saves.
Hayden Neuman took
the loss with 25.
The Legionnaires are
now 4 - 3 for the
season.
The legionnaires are
back at home on
Thursday Oct 11 when
they host the
Strathroy Rockets.
Game time 7:10 pm at
the Sarnia Arena.
