One PeeWee Division
game and a pair of
Bantam games
highlighted SMAA
Football at Norm
Perry Park
Thanksgiving Monday.
The PeeWee Division
continues to be very
competitive and
unpredictable.
Monday evening the
second place Fury,
losers by only a
convert in their
last game against
the first place
Storm, battled the
fourth place
Avengers. The
Avengers came out
firing on all
cylinders. On their
initial possession
they marched down
the field and scored
on a 33 yard dash by
Teshawn Stevenson.
The very next time
they had the ball
Cody Lunn ran in
from 15 yards out
and Zachary Tremblay
added the convert
for a 14-0 lead.
There was no more
scoring until the
third quarter when
hard running
Mitchell Hillsdon
rumbled 42 yards to
the end zone.
Tremblay added the
convert. Stevenson
completed the
scoring on a 1 yard
run and a convincing
28-0 upset for the
Avengers.
In Bantam action the
Mechanical
Contractor's
Association Toros
scored a pair of
first half
touchdowns by Jamie
Campbell and Aden
Alkinani. Dale Leivo
converted both
majors for a 16-0
lead. From there,
the Toros cruised to
victory. Two more
majors were added in
the second half, the
first on a 9 yard
pass from Campbell
to Keyshaun Matthews
and the second on a
5 yard scamper from
Campbell. Second
half touchdowns were
scored by Keyshaun
Jordan and Austin
Clement for the
Tiger Sharks. The
Toros prevailed
28-12.
In the nightcap the
Sylvan Learning
Centre Bears mauled
the Mammoet Crane
Incorporated
Mammoths 32-6.
Bennet Vani set the
tone of the game
early with hard hit
on a quarterback
sack which forced a
Mammoth fumble. Two
plays later Matthew
Paquette ran 33
yards for a 6-0
Bears lead, a lead
they would never
relinquish. The
Bears counted 2 more
majors in the half,
the first on a 3
yard run from Kurt
Noszenko and the
second on a 22 yard
dash from
quarterback Nicholas
Iacobelli. Patrick
Miller's bruising
running finally paid
off as he broke 3
tackles on route to
a 45 yard touchdown
run for the
Mammoths, their only
scoring of the game.
In the second half
Clay Mackie punched
the ball into the
end zone for the
Bears. Dominic
Cocozzoli converted
all 4 Bear's
touchdowns in a
dominant victory.
