Petrolia Squires Dominate in Win Over Goderich

Petrolia, On - It was evening of celebration as the Petrolia Squires was a part of the Petrolia Minor Hockey 50th Anniversary Celebration.  After the anniversary celebration and the Ceremonial Faceoff the Squires celebrated a 7 - 1 win over the Goderich Pirates.

The Squires took a 3 - 0 lead in the first and added two more in the second and in the third with the last being a shorthanded goal.  The Pirates lone goal came late in the third period. 

Tyler Haddon and Cam Patterson each scored two goals in the win and singles by Adam McCallum, Jason McPhail and Brad Hull.  Hadden was the top point getter in the game with a total of three points adding an assist to his two goals.  Mitch Zavitz, Former Mooretown Flags player Aaron Schieman and Veteran Mike Gardner each assisted on two goals earning two points apiece.

Petrolia outshot Goderich 42 - 34.  Chris Houle earned the win turning away 33 shots.  Rich Wigmore took the loss making a total of 35 saves.

The Squires are now 2 - 0 for the season and they are back in action tonight as they travel to Thedford for a 7:30 puck drop.  The Squires are back at home on Friday October 19 when they host Milverton at 8:00pm at the Greenwood Recreation Centre in Petrolia.
