SMAA Saturday Football Results and Highlights

The ultra competitive Peewee Division produced 2 more upsets on Saturday with teams lower in the standings winning both games, scrambling the standings even more.

In the first game the rapidly improving Avengers defeated the Fury 28-0.Mitchell Hillsdon was a powerhouse for the victors scoring touchdowns on runs of 5, 9 and 24 yards. Zachary Trembly kicked 2 converts for the Avengers who moved into third place with the win.

In the second game the Force handed the Storm their second defeat of the season, riding a strong defense to a 13-6 victory. The Storm took the opening kick off and marched down the field on a drive that culminated in a 9 yard touchdown reception on a pass from Hunter Hendrie. The Force's opening possession resulted in their first touchdown on a 28 yard touchdown run by Jackson Smiley. Avery Smiley's convert put the Force up 7-6. The score remained this way for the rest of the first half and into the fourth quarter as each team had outstandinbg defensive play. The Force forged farther ahead when Avery Smiley scampered 37 yards to the end zone for a 13-6. lead. With time winding down, the Storm began a menacing drive that ended on the Force 20 yard line whrn time ran out.

This game marked the last game to be played on the grass field at Norm Perry Park as excavation is scheduled to begin Monday for a new state of the art turf field that is slated to be ready for play on July 1, 2013. Following the game, both teams and the officials were photographed in front of the score clock with its final numbers lit to commemorate this event.
