Sarnia travelled to Stratford on Saturday afternoon to take battle with the warriors. The extra large ice surface provided lots of room for fast, open-ice hockey. Tight battles for the puck were won by the Jr Sting in the opening period, but they were unable to close the deal.
Stratford opened the scoring up in the 2nd, although the Jr Sting offence seemed to be all over them. A bouncing deflection early in the 3rd found its way up and over Jr Sting goalie Ian Stauth's shoulder, giving Stratford a 2-0 lead. The boys in white kept their heads high though, and 6 minutes into the 3rd, Eric Armitage, Noah Porter and Dylan Cornish connected on a tic-tac-toe pass in front of the net, with Cornish pounding it home.
The fire was lit, and a minute later Cayden Wise took a pass from Chandler Haagsma and went in and stuck it top shelf to tie it at 2. The Sarnia bench was rolling with momentum but a minute later the Warriors responded with a low stick side shot that got by Stauth.
The final minutes of the game were nail biters as Sarnia with the 6th attacker- had numerous scoring chances, but the warriors held them off. At the buzzer it was 3-2 warriors.
