Point Edward Peewee pull out a 2 -  1 squeaker
January 3, 2012

On December 11th, the Point Edwards Peewee Blackhawks travelled to Strathroy to play the Rockets and pulled out a 2-1 win in Lambton-Middlesex league action.

The first period saw both teams look evenly matched with play going end-to-end. As the period progressed, the Hawks were getting some good scoring opportunities but the Rockets defense kept them at bay and not allowing the Hawks to get any rebounds. The period end 0-0.

The second saw the Point almost get on the board with a shot hitting the post in the first minute of play. With the momentum going with the Point, Best made an end-to-end drive and deked the goalie with a backhand to give the Point a 1-0 lead. Action was fast for most of the period with both teams getting scoring opportunities but the period end 1-0 for the Hawks.

The third period saw the Hawks take a two goal lead when Riddell drove the puck into the zone and passed it to Best who shot with Riddell getting the rebound to make it 2-0. The Rockets capitalized when the Hawks couldn’t clear their zone and made it 2-1 with 10 minutes to play in the game. Action continued to be fast and Reinders came up big with four minutes remaining to keep the Hawks one goal lead. As the game came to a close and a Hawks player was in the penalty box, the Rockets tried to score with a 6-on-4

attack but the Hawks held on and saved the 2-1 victory.
