Sarnia Jr Sting Minor Atoms returned to league action
January 14, 2012

SARNIA JR. STING MINOR ATOM MD'S vs. WEST LONDON HAWKS

After a lengthy lay-off, the Sarnia Jr. Sting Minor Atom MD's returned to league action on Thursday evening at the Kinsmen Arena in London. Their opponents, the West London Hawks sat 8 points ahead of them in the standings.
The opening period created some great end to end action with strong goaltending on both sides of the rink. No goals were scored in the first period as the teams started the second deadlocked at zeros.

The second period presented some interesting scenarios as Sarnia would spend most of the period in the penalty box. On two occassions, the Jr. Sting would find themselves down by two players as London enjoyed the 5 on 3 power plays. The Hawks would score 3 goals in the period to start the third in a comfortable position.

Sarnia found it difficult to climb back into the game as the third period continued the same trend with the Sting facing more penalties. In hockey, sometimes the refereeing can swing the momentum of the game as it was very evident in this case! West London would score two more goals to win the match 5 - 0. Some great effort was shown by the Sting boys as they battled hard all game. Next action for the Jr. Sting is this Saturday January 14th at the Sarnia Arena vs. Stratford.
