After
a short
lay-off, the
Jr. Sting
were back in
action
hosting the
Stratford
Warriors at
the Old Barn
(Sarnia
Arena).
Sarnia was
coming off a
loss and
were looking
to get back
in the win
column.
The boys
showed great
spirit and
enthusiasm
from the
onset and
were looking
to score
that elusive
first goal.
Half way
through the
first
period,
their
prayers
would be
answered,
when winger
Noah Porter
would fire a
shot outside
the circle
which would
elude the
Warrior
goalie.
Stratford
would answer
back and tie
the game at
one a piece.
Sarnia would
fire into
the second
period by
applying
great
pressure and
solid
forechecking.
Their
efforts were
once again
rewarded as
Sting
defenseman
Lleyton
Williams
would carry
the puck
into the
Warrior end
and slot the
wrist shot
over the
outstretched
hands of the
netminder.
Two minutes
later,
forward
Jacob Gould
would add to
the Sarnia
lead as he
fired the
perfect shot
into the
back of the
net. Sarnia
would
continue
dominating
play in the
second, and
once again
Llyeton
Williams
would notch
his second
of the game
firing a
shot from
the point.
The second
period would
close out
with Sarnia
up by three
goals.
Stratford
would add a
late goal in
the third
but that was
as close as
they would
come as
Sarnia shut
the door!
Defense
played
extremely
well as
Sting goalie
Ian Stouth
would be
rewarded
with the
win.
Due to the
major
SilverStick
tournament
in the area,
the Jr.
Sting will
not see
action till
Monday
January 23rd
against the
London
Bandits
Black.
