Lambton Jr Sting AAA Bantams Create A Buzz in Toronto

September 10, 2012

The Jr. Sting represented Lambton County well at the Toronto Red Wing early bird tournament this weekend . Riding a wave of momentum from a 4-0 pre season the Sting made a strong statement by scoring a decisive 3-1 victory over the always strong Detroit Little Caesars team in the opening game.

Scoring for Lambton were Isaac Mclean , Jarett Marks and Franco Sproviero. Game MVP went to Goalie Anthony Hurtubise who made the big saves when he was called upon.

The Sting continued their winning streak next game with a nail biting 2-1 win over a top ranked Vaughan Kings team . Scoring for Lambton were Ethan Dupont and Jarett Marks. Kaden Fulcher was the game MVP with a stellar game between the pipes.

The next morning the Sting got their wake up call with a 3-0 loss to South Central Coyotes . Needing to beat Guelph to move on to the playoff round the Sting came up big with a 3-0 win. Goals were provided from Alec Dekoning with 2 and a single marker to Jarett Marks, who was also game MVP.

Lambton finished in a tie for first after the round robin with a 3-1 record but were regulated to the consolation round in a tie breaking system. The quarter final game against Whitby was a classic . The game ended in regulation 6-6 , and after a 5 minute overtime provided no scoring the game went to a shootout. Whitby would score the only goal in the shootout to move on. Scoring for Lambton were Ryan Greenaway , Franco Sproviero, Curtis Helps and Alec Dekoning with a pair each.

The Sting hope to build on this weekends success when they open the Alliance season this Friday night at the RBC Center against the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs.
