Sarnia Sting Minor Midgets defeated Chatham Tek Savvy Cobras 2-0 Sunday afternoon in a hard fought AA exhibition hockey contest. The first period ended scoreless following three Sarnia penalties and two Chatham ones. Sarnia had 5 shots on goal to 4 for the Cobras in the fairly even defensive minded opening session.

The Cobras held the edge in play in the second with 12 shots on goal compared to 5 for the Sting. Some solid defensive positional play by captain Tyler Drury and Drew Morgan held the team together. Cole Lauzon made some sharp key saves in net and the game remained scoreless after two.

Michael Pearce redirected a shot by Morgan high past Teran in net for Chatham at 11:43 of the third to break the goose egg. Devin Butler also drew an assist on the play to put Sarnia up by one. Chatham got into some penalty problems as the period progressed. It led to a power play goal by Jeff Williams at 6:04 assisted by Nolan Riley and Gage Riddoch which rounded out the scoring. Final shots on goal for Sarnia were 21 and 19 for Chatham. Lauzon receives full credit for the shutout in net.
