The Alvinston Indians 2012
season is over, courtesy of the new St. Thomas and District
Major Fastball League Playoff Champions - the St. Thomas
Storm, who disposed of the Indians in 3 straight games, with
a tight game 3 win of 2-1 in Alvinston, on Sunday evening.
A second inning solo homerun by Troy Rick put the Storm up
1-0, and Rick scored again in the second when he was hit by
a pitch, and came around to score after an RBI single by
Aaron Gould. Alvinston would score their lone run in the
fourth inning, when Chris Drew tripled and scored on an
errant throw to third, allowing him to score.
The final score was 2-1. Ryan
Cummings was the winning pitcher for St. Thomas allowing 3
hits and 2 walks, while Kyle Crawford was the hard luck
losing pitcher, allowing only 3 hits with 4 walks, while
striking out 9. Crawford gave the Indians a chance to win,
as he retired 12 straight batters after the third inning.
Congratulations to the St. Thomas Storm on their 2012
Playoff Championship!
The Indians concluded the season
with 37 wins and 24 losses, over 61 games played. They lost
in the finals at the Ontario Challenge Cup recently after
going 5-2 on the weekend. They finished in the top half of
the ISC World Tournament, bowing out in 24th place, with a
3-2 record. The Indians also qualified for the ISC World
Tournament in Midland, after going 4-2 at the ISC Ontario
East qualifier, and finishing in fourth place, enough to
earn them an automatic berth into the World Tournament this
season. The season didn't end in a terribly positive manner,
but the Indians are sure to be back in 2013! The Indians
send thanks to their fans for their support in 2012!
