Sarnia Jr. Sting Peewee A Champions at Fort Erie Tournament

The Sarnia Jr. Sting Peewee A team went undefeated at the 2013 Andy Passero Memorial Hockey Tournament in Fort Erie last weekend.

 

In the first game the Jr. Sting shut out the Kent Cobra’s 2 – 0.  Game two Sarnia took an early lead then ran into penalty troubles in the third but held on to take a 6 – 3 win against Lorne Park Ojibwa.   The third game the Jr. Sting played solid and hard to defeat the Fort Erie Jr Meteors 4 – 1.  With a 3 – 0 record the Jr. Sting moved on to the semi-final round.

 

In the semi-final the Jr. Sting defeat the Riverside Rangers 4 – 2 and moved on to the final round for the Championship Title against the Pelham Panthers.

 

In the final it took shoot out to decide the Tournament Champions.  Action went end to end and Sarnia jumped out and took a 2 – 0 lead. The Panthers clawed their way back and midway into the third period scored the tying goal. The game ended with both sides even at 2 – 2. Tie breakers for the tournament was by shoot out and Sarnia came out on top scoring 2 – 1 to bring home the Championship title.
