Derek Drouin Earns Three Athletics Canada Awards

After a record breaking season, Derek Drouin from Corunna has earned three awards from Athletics Canada.

 

The awards include,  F.N.A. Rowell Trophy for athlete of the year in field events, the Cal D. Bricker Memorial Trophy for outstanding performance of the year and the Jack W. Davies Trophy as outstanding overall athlete of the year.

 

The 2012 Olympic High Jump Bronze Medalist had a remarkable 2012-13 season with a Canadian record of 2.38-metres and a bronze medal at the IAAF World Championships. Drouin dominated in the 2013 indoor season winning the NCAA Division 1 title and a new Canadian record of 2.35-metres. 

 

Drouin was selected from a group of nominees for performances from Oct 2012 to Sept 13 that are put forth by the athletics community.

 

The Annual Awards Gala will be held in Moncton, New Brunswick during the 2014 Canadian Championships.
