Sarnia Sting Win in OT in Owen Sound

The Sarnia Sting traveled to Owen Sound on Wednesday night and won 3 - 2 in overtime.

 

Both sides went scoreless in the first two periods.  After two periods of play both teams were tied with 19 shots on goal.  Sarnia outshot Owen Sound 11 - 4 in the first and Owen Sound outshot Sarnia 15 - 8 in the second.

 

In the third period Nickolas Latta gave the Sting the lead at 4:39 on a power play.  The Attack's Gilbert Gabor answered back at 6:48 then at 14:36 Gabor scored his second goal to give the Attack the lead.  The lead was short lived as Nicolay Goldobin scored at 15:16 to even the score that sent the game into over time where Jeff King scored his first goal of the season the Sting the win.

 

Owen Sound outshot the Sting in the third 18 - 11 and overall 40 - 33.

 

Taylor Dupuis earned the win in net for the Sting, Former Sting Brandon Hope took the loss.

Sarnia went one for three on the power play and denied the Attack on four opportunities.

 

The Sting's record is now 12-19-1-2 and they are now in 8th place in the Western Conference.

 

Thursday the team will travel to Barrie for their last game before the Christmas break.
