As part of the celebrations of Hockey Day in Canada, the Sarnia Legionnaires will be hosting their third annual "Hockey Day in Sarnia" on Saturday February 9, 2013.
Legionnaires players will be celebrity coaches on the benches of the Novice and Atom Division House League games held at Clearwater and Germain arenas from 8 - 12.
"Our guys really enjoy going out" said General Manager Bob Williamson "I talked to Jeff Paulley and he told me that he hasn't won in two years, he's in his last year so he's pumped for it. I didn't know how they would respond going to the Atom and Novice games but they love it."
"We done this for three years and the biggest kick the kids get is having the Legionnaires guys come on the bench on Saturday for our house league Novice and Atom house league games." said Sarnia Hockey Association Chairman Mike Johnson "It's pretty competitive to watch the kids, they seem to enjoy it."
In the afternoon Minor hockey games will be continue at Sarnia Arena and the final game of the day will be between the Sarnia Legionnaires and the LaSalle Vipers at 7:10 pm.
The Legionnaires invites all Lambton County Minor Hockey Players, Girls and Boys, to wear their team jersey, jacket or bring identification that they play minor hockey for free admission into the game. Following the game players, parents and fans are invited to skate with the Legionnaires.
Hockey Day in Canada is being held in Peterborough this year. Williamsons' goal is to bring it to Sarnia some time in the future.
