The Sarnia FC U11 Boys travelled to London to play their second last doubleheader of the season. A couple of 'Big" games were in place as Sarnia looked to close out the season in first place. Their first scheduled match of the day found them facing the Southwest Eurostars whom they were battling for the league title. The winner of this game would have a huge advantage in the placement of the standings and Sarnia was up for the challenge.
Before kick-off you could feel the tension in the air as both teams seemed a little nervous. Sarnia FC would come out of the gate flying as they pressured the Eurostars early. Their fortitude and ambition would soon be rewarded as striker Mateo Troiani would open the scoring, placing the perfect blast into the left corner of the Southwest goal. Minutes later Sarnia's Michael Howe would put his team up by two on another forceful strike from 15 yards out. Sarnia had many other numerous chances in the half but were denied on most occasions. The FC defense stood tall limiting most scoring chances by the Eurostars. Sarnia keeper Andrew Harron made three 'Huge" saves to keep his team up by two!
In the second half Sarnia would extend their lead when striker Mateo Troiani would find himself alone in front of the Southwest goalie and calmly place the perfect shot beyond his reach. Southwest quickly rebounded with two fast goals of their own to bring up the heat level once more. This day however belonged to Sarnia, as Michael Howe would close out the scoring on a beautiful header which caught the top corner of the London net. As the final buzzer sounded eruptions of joy were heard from the Sarnia sidelines as the boys accomplished what they came to do!
