The Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting Peewee C team captured the 32nd Walter Gretzky Hockey Tournament this past weekend (Feb.21-24) in Brantford, Ontario.

In pool play they defeated B.A.D. Blazers 1-0 on a goal directly off a faceoff by centre Madilyn Fairbairn and a shutout by Angela Steen.
In the second game they beat Wilmot 3-1 with a solid effort and goals from Morgan Flett, Claire Heggie and Erin Ellis-Parr and stellar goaltending from Sarah Heath.

In game three they lost a tight game 1-0 to the Ancaster Avalanche.

In the semi-final, they were matched up against the St. Clair Shores, Michigan Saintes. It was a tight, back and forth game that ended 0-0 after regulation time and following 5 minutes of 3 on 3 OT the score remained 0-0. In the shootout each team failed to score with their first three shooters. The fourth shooter for Sarnia was Kaylee White and she wristed a shot over the goalies left glove into the top corner for a dramatic win and to send the team to the finals. Sarah Heath, the Sarnia goalie, recorded the shutout and stopped all 4 shootout shooters.

In the championship game, they faced their nemesis, the Ancaster Avalanche.

It was a fast, back and forth game. Erin Ellis-Parr scored in the first period with a nice 5 hole shot in the slot. In the third period, Miss Dependable, Meghan Harvie, lifted a strong wrist shot from the slot over the goalies' glove to seal the win. The team played strong and Sarah Heath made several difficult stops to preserve the shutout.
