The Point Edward PeeWee’s travelled to Watford to play the East Lambton Eagles and edged out the Eaglers 3-2 in Lambton-Middlesex league action.
The first started with neither team able to control the puck with a majority of the play at center ice. With less than two minutes left the Hawks got into trouble in their own end when they couldn’t clear the puck and the Eagles squeaked in a rebound to make it 1-0. It didn’t take too long before Burrowes struck back to even the game at 1-1 before the period ended with assists going to Waun and Lamore.
The Hawks coming off the momentum of scoring the last goal pressured early in the second but the East Lambton goalie made some good saves to keep the game even with most of the play being in the Eagles end. Midway through the period the Point took the lead when Hocking stick-handled the puck around the net to beat the Eagles net minder between the legs.
Point Edward caught the East Lambton team on their heels early in the period and extended their lead when Burrowes drove the puck into the zone and shot and Kootstra caught the rebound and slammed it in. The Hawks continued to pressure but the Eagles took advantage of a Blackhawks player change to make it 3-2. As the clock ticked down, East Lambton pulled their goalie but the Point hung on for the win.
