Point Edward Peewee Suffer Loss
december 1, 2012

The Point Edward PeeWee’s host the North-Middlesex(Parkhill) Stars in Lambton-Middlesex league action and lost a 2-1 nail biter to suffer their second loss of the season.

Both teams came out a bit slow as this was their first meeting of the season and were not sure what to expect. Play in the first was played mainly at center ice with the odd offense rush into the other teams zone but the defense insured there were no second opportunities. The period ended 0-0 after one.

The second period saw both teams pushing hard for a goal. Half way through the period the Hawks ran into trouble in their own zone when they couldn’t clear the puck and Archer came up big many times trying to keep the puck out of the net but the Stars prevailed and made it 1-0. Play was tight for the remainder of the period with neither team getting any scoring opp’s.

The third period saw the Stars hit the board early after the Point killed off a penalty when Parkhill got a break off a shot that had the Hawks goalie screened to make it 2-0. Point Edward didn’t give up and with three minutes left to play made it 2-1 when Boccanfuso passed to Kootstra who set up Kennedy to make it 2-1. Parkhill took a late penalty and pulled their goalie to make it a 6 on 4 but couldn’t push the  puck into the net to tie the game before time ran out.
