Petrolia Squires went 2 - 0 in WOAA Senior AA Hockey League Action

The Petrolia Squires went 2 - 0 on the road over the weekend in  WOAA Senior AA Hockey League action.

On Friday the Squires visited the Moncton Wildcats and shut them out with a final score of 2 - 0.  After a scoreless first period Rob Vanwynsberghe led the Squires with a goal at 4:42 in the second period assisted by Aaron Schieman.  In the third at 4:13 Jesse Drydak scored the second goal assisted by Mitch Zavitz. 

The Wildcats outshot the Squires 40 - 31.  Chris Houle earned the shut out win for the Squires, Andrew Daub took the loss.

On Saturday the Squires traveled to Thedford and came home on top with a 7 - 2 win.  The Squires scored three goals in the first and second period and a single in the third.  Thedford scored one in the first and one in the second.

Scoring for Petrolia were Kyle Quinn, Greg Bailey (PP), Rob Vanwysberghe (PP), Aaron Schieman (PP), Dan Veenema and Adam McCallum who scored the last two goals.

Matt Slotwinski earned the win for the Squires with a total of 42 saves.  Dave Riddle took the loss with 48 saves.

The Squires are currently in 4th place in the standings race with a record of 11-7-0-1 for 23 points.

The Squires are back at home next Friday January 11 when they host Tavistock at the Greenwood Recreation Centre.  Game time is set for 8:00pm.
