Lambton Minor Peewee AAA Helped Canada Bring Home the Nations Cup

Minor Peewee teams from across Ontario, joined together and brought home the coveted 2013 Nations Cup.

Held in Lansing Michigan, the Nations Cup is a tournament between Canada and the USA where the teams earn points for every win and their points are tallied and the Country that earns the most points wins the Cup. 

The Lambton Jr Sting Minor Peewee AAA  joined together with Sun County, Quinte Red Devils, Orchard Lake, Chatham, York Simcoe, Sault Ste Marie, Markham, Mississauga Rebels and Guelph Storm to represent Canada.

Canada won the Peewee division with a combined total of 21 points.  USA earned 9 points. The Lambton Jr Sting earned two points for Canada with a record of 2 - 2 in pool play and losing to Compuware in the Round Robin.

In their first game Lambton shutout Little Caesars 3 - 0.  Nolan DeGurse assisted by Dylan Riddell and Steel Harris scored the first goal.  Carson Perry from Cory Smith and Kyle Kachan scored the second.  Earning the shutout in net for the Jr Sting was Luc Thorne-Smith.

In game two the Lambton Jr Sting fell to the Michigan Nationals by a final score of 6 - 4.  Scoring for Lambton were Dylan Riddell from Matt McIntyre and Kyle Kachan.  Kachan scored the second goal assisted by DeGurse and McIntyre.  The third goal was scored by Cory Smith with Jaxon Shelton assisting.  The final goal was scored by DeGurse assisted by McIntyre and Ryan Barwitzki.

In the third game of the tournament the Jr. Sting edged out the Long Island Gulls with a final score of 3 - 2.  Spencer Vandenboom scored his first of the tournament assisted by Brandon Neelin.  Kyle Kachan from DeGurse and Riddel scored the second goal and Vandenboom scored his second of the game and goal number three for Lambton assisted Carson Perry.

In the final Pool Division play the Jr Sting dropped a 5 - 2 decision to the Young Americans. Cory Smith and Nolan DeGurse each scored for the Jr Sting.  Spencer Vandenboom and Kyle Kachan assisted on the goals.

Lambton placed 4th for Canada in their pool and Compuware was 4th for the USA and the two 4th place teams were matched up in the final.  Compuware edged out the Jr Sting by one goal taking the win with a final score of 4 - 3.  Cory Smith, Dylan Riddell and Kyle Kachan scored for Lambton. Nolan DeGurse earned two points with two assists in the game.  Spencer Vandenboom, Matt McIntyre and Steele Harris also earned one point each with assists.

In the final game, the Mississauga Rebels placed first place for Canada in Division play and defeated the USA #1 team Cleveland Barons 6 - 1.
