Strong Performance from Sarnia FC U11 Boys

As the Indoor soccer season winds down every game becomes important and crucial for placement in the standings. The Sarnia FC U11 boy's team sit at the top of the league but there is no room allowed for error. This group of dedicated athletes would like nothing more than to close out the campaign in positive form.

Their first game of the weekend pitted them against the St. Thomas Strikers. At the opening kick-off Sarnia would demonstrate strong passing and team play while dominating possession. Their poise would be rewarded quickly as striker Michael Howe would open the scoring on a forceful blast from 20 yards out. Soon after Sarnia FC would add to their lead as striker Mateo Troiani would pounce on a rebound and blast it into the corner of the St. Thomas goal.

The second half would play out much like the first as Sarnia continued to dominate. Two more goals were added in the second half by mid-fielder James Brown and a second goal from Michael Howe to close out the scoring. Strong performance defensively by Sarnia FC as they limited the Strikers to minimal chances. Sarnia keeper Andrew Harron posted his league leading 4th shutout of the season. Final Score: Sarnia FC 4 - St. Thomas Strikers 0.

The second game of the double header featured a clash with Oxford FC. At this point of the season, Oxford remained the only undefeated team in the U11 league. The team plays a very strong defensive format allowing the fewest goals against in the league. Sarnia FC was ready for the challenge looking to break the Oxford unbeaten streak.

At the start of action Sarnia unfortunately came out flat with Oxford scoring a quick goal 40 seconds into the match. Sarnia would find themselves down 3 - 1 early in the game. As in many sports however the game is not over till the final buzzer. Oxford FC would soon find that out as Sarnia would show their resilience to mount a valiant comeback. Sarnia would score three goals in a matter of minutes to gain a 1 goal lead over a stunned Oxford FC. Goal scorers for Sarnia were: James Brown(2), Nathan Hawkes and Michael Howe. As the final buzzer sounded Sarnia would hand Oxford their first loss of the season. Great over-all performance by all team members on well deserved wins. Final Score: Sarnia FC 4 - Oxford FC 3.
