Indians Win 4-0 Over Springfield Thursday Night
The Alvinston Indians hosted the Springfield Brewers in St. Thomas and District Major Fastball League action on Thursday night on home turf, in what was a glorious evening for a game of ball.
Springfield was the first team who threatened to score in the game, in the top of the second inning, when the Brewers had runners on second and third, with one out, but they failed to capitalize.
In the bottom of the third, the Indians finally got going, and did all of their damage in this stanza, and mostly with two out! Tyler Huff singled with one out, and with two out, Joe Triest did the same, putting runners on first and third. Jamie Shields walked to load the bases, and Jeff Lyons delivered with a two out two RBI single, scoring both Huff and J. Triest, for the games first two runs. Aaron Stocking then followed, and singled to score Andy Triest, who was running for catcher Jamie Shields. Eric Hyatt then extended the lead to 4-0, when he clubbed a sharp single to score Lyons.
Kyle Crawford was dominant on the mound once again for the Indians. Crawford, tossed a complete game seven inning affair, allowing no runs on three hits, while he also walked three. The bigger story, and even more impressive, was the fact that Crawford struckout 17 Springfield swingers, in the shutout victory.
J. Triest was 3/3 for the Indians with a walk, and a run scored. Hyatt was 2/3 for the Indians with an RBI, while Lyons, Huff, Ryan Chapman, A. Triest, and Stocking were all 1/3 in the contest.
The Indians are now 12-2 on the season, and remain in first place in the league standings. Next up for the Indians is an away game, against the Glencoe Astros, on Tuesday evening, beginning at 8:00pm.
