The Sarnia Imperials made the long trek to Sault Ste Marie on Saturday for their final league game in the Northern Conference Football league and came home with a 52 - 7 lost against the Steelers.
At the end of the regular season the Imperials are tied for second in points with the Tri City Outlaws. (3 wins - 5 losses) Tie breaker rules went into effect and on the first tie breaker, head to head both sides were even. Second tie breaker, fewest points allowed gave Tri City second place and home field advantage in playoffs. (Imperials GA 251, Tri City GA 220)
The Imperials and Tri City will now meet in the West Division semi finals and the Imperials will travel to the University Waterloo on Saturday August 3, kick off 7:00 pm. In previous league action both games were close with a six point spread in each of the games with Tri City winning the first game 37-31 and the second game the Imperials won 18 - 12.
