Ontario's Lawn Bowlers Set to Compete at Ontario Senior Triples Lawn Bowling Championships in Sarnia

wednesday july 3, 2013

Starting August 5th, bowlers from across Ontario will be competing for the opportunity of being crowned the Ontario Senior Triples Lawn Bowling Champion at the Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club.

16 Men’s and 16 Women’s teams of three from across Ontario (96 bowlers), will meet in Sarnia for 2 days of intense competition in a sport which requires the perfect combination of accuracy and strategy. The event will be held at the Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club in Germain Park (off Bright Street) from August 5-7, 2013.

Sarnia could have two teams, one ladies and one men’s team, representing District 2 at the provincials in August, however this will not be confirmed until after the District Playdowns on July 16 and 17 which will also be hosted in Sarnia.

“The Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club has been hosting bowlers from across Canada for over 100 years and we are honoured to be hosting the Ontario Senior Triples Lawn Bowling Championships, this year. The greens are in prime condition and our host committee is extremely excited and ready to welcome the bowlers,” said Dave Moffitt, president of the Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club.

A Welcome reception and practice will take place on August 5; however the official opening ceremonies will begin at 8:00 a.m. on August 6.

We are incredibly fortunate and grateful to have such dedicated volunteers from the Sarnia Lawn bowling Club and honoured to once again have the opportunity to showcase our community. Sarnia Lambton has a great history of hosting successful International, National and Provincial events, and this will be no different”, said Vicky Praill Special Events and Group Marketing Co-ordinator for Tourism Sarnia Lambton.
