Point Edward Pacers Disappoint

Friday may 31, 2013

In Jr B Lacrosse action the Point Edward Pacers hosted the Elora Mohawks on Friday and took a disappointing 18 - 12 loss before 210 fans.

"Bad first 10 minutes when you bury a hole 8 - 2 and the rest of the game was 10 – 10," Head Coach Jim Bell said in frustration after the game.

In actuality the score was 8 - 2 after 20 minutes of play. Elora was up 7 - 0 at 14:02 before Point Edward found the opening at 16:11. Elora's eighth goal was at 18:30 and in the last minute of the period Pacers scored their second.

After a disappointing first period the two sides were even with 4 goals apiece in the second and 6 in the third.

Dan Charlton led the Pacers earning a total of eight points with three goals and five assists. Charlton is fourth place overall in the league points standings with a total of 52 points (25G - 27A). Kevin Conroy earned six points with four goals and two assists. Other goal scorers included TJ Mara, Blair McFarlane, Trevor Hiseler, Liam Wright and Connor Wright.

Ian Ferguson and Brayden Bell shared in the loss in net for the Pacers.

Point Edward went 6 for 9 on the power play. Elora went 5 for 8.

"I have been trying to instil in these kids they got to believe in themselves," Bell said. "They wanted changes in coaches they got it, they wanted change in the system they got it, so once you get everything that you asked for it's time to look at yourself in the mirror and realize you got to step up there's no more excuses."

The Pacers are in last place with a record of 2-8 in the Far West Division. On Sunday they look to add another win when they travel to Owen Sound who are in last place in the Mid West Division with a record of 0-8. This will be the Pacers third game in five nights.
