The Sarnia FC U 10 Red Machine were on fire last night in league action defeating the U 10 Chatham Attack by a score of 5-2.
Sarnia would open the scoring when a beautiful corner from Eric Larocque was tapped into the net by centre midfielder Matthew Gouveia. A few minutes later, Matthew Gouveia would volley his second goal of the night into the back of the Chatham Attack net. The Red Machines third goal would come when Jacob Drapotoy sent a corner kick to the top of the box and Janzen Wark delivered a brilliant header beating the Attack goalie again. The attack would rally and score two goals before the half ended and the half would end 3-2 in favour of Sarnia.
The Red Machine defence was on fire all game. Wyatt Ladanchuk, Branyn Cooper, Jeremy MacMillan, Matteus Hartmann and Jacob Beaudoin were solid as a red brick wall shutting out the Attack the entire second half. The game was an aggressive game, but solid, gritty forward play from Jordan Foster, Eric Larocque, and Ewan Morrisson kept the Red Machine's offence coming. Jacob Drapotoy would use his speed and quick feet to beat all the Attack defenders and chip one in over the keeper's hands. The final goal of the night would come when Matthew Gouveia sent a blistering penalty shot into the top corner of the net, securing himself the hat trick for the night.
Alex Weir kept his composure and made great saves and kicks to contribute to the victory. A great team effort and an exciting game for the fans to watch. Great job Sarnia FC Red!
