The Sarnia Spirit U15 Soccer Team were so close to advancing to the final eight teams in Ontario in the Ontario Cup. Goal difference was the decider as St Catharines was declared as the team to move into the final eight.
St Catharines plays in the OYSL which is the top league in Ontario for youth soccer. The Spirit were eight minutes away from defeating St Catharines in their first game. St Catharines tied the score on a goal mouth scramble. The game finished in a 1-1 tie. Lauren Shaw scored the Spirit goal.
In game two, the Spirit defeated London Dragons FC 2-1. Kristy Hodgins scored both goals for the Spirit. In game three, Sarnia defeated Whitby 2-0. Goals by Kelly Hodgins and Kyleigh Arthur secured the win. Cassidy Edlington was in goal for the clean sheet.
The Spirit return to league action next Sunday in Waterloo.
