Indians First Loss on Home Turf

Friday june 28, 2013

The Alvinston Indians dropped to a 9-2 record in St. Thomas and District Major Fastball League action on Thursday night, when they hosted the Glanworth Gators.

The Gators were able to score two in the first two in the second, and two in the third inning, en route to a 6-2 victory.  Jake McKillop got the win for the Gators, going seven innings, and holding Alvinston to only 4 hits.  He had 5 free passes issued, and struckout 12 Alvinston swingers.

The Indians mustered only two runs with Andy Triest driving home Alix Chisholm, who reached previously via an error, in the second inning.  They also added one more run in the fifth inning, when Aaron Stocking doubled, and scored on an RBI single by Eric Hyatt.

Jeff Lyons suffered the loss for the Indians, tossing three innings.  Doug Charlton came in in relief of Lyons, and pitched 4 scoreless innings from the fourth inning on, while striking out 6 and allowing no hits.  Charlton gave the Indians a chance to claw back in the game, but they did not, as their offence sputtered most of the night, with McKillop earning the credit for the Gators.

Next up for the Indians is a Tuesday night affair in Fingal at 8:00pm against the St. Thomas Storm.
