Legionnaires Dropped Another Close Playoff Game

The Sarnia Legionnaires lost another close game by a score of 3 - 2 against the Leamington Flyers in Western Ontario Jr B Hockey Conference best of seven quarterfinal playoff series.

In the first period both teams shared power play goals with Leamington scoring the first at 11:28 by Myles Doan.  Jason Teschke tied the game at 13:05 when he redirected a puck into the Leamington cage while standing at the side of the net. Brent Sauve and Steve Farlow assisted.

Leamington score the only goal in the second period at 9:40 by Mitchell Amante. In the third period at 14:06 the Flyers widened their lead with Alex Sequin scoring.  With Leamington up 3-1 in the third, Bobby King scored the Legionnaires second goal on the power play on a backhand shot to make things close. Teschke picked up the lone assist.

Sarnia almost tied the game when a shot late in the third period hit the post and stopped on the goal line. But a quick whistle put an end to the play before anything further could happen.

Goalie Sean Parker was outstanding for the Legionnaires, making 47 saves to keep his team in the contest right until the final buzzer. Matt Mancina earned the win for the Flyers making 19 saves.

Sarnia went two for five on the power play, Leamington we one for seven.

Leamington leads the series two games to one and game four is back at the Sarnia Arena on Tuesday March 5 with a 7:10 puck drop.
