 friday march 15, 2013

SARNIA, ON,  –The hugely successful 3 on 3 Street Hockey Challenge will be returning for a second year on April 20, 2013 at Hiawatha Horsepark and Entertainment Centre in Sarnia. The Community Active Living Lambton (CALL) Committee will again be planning the event.

Similar to last year, it will be a one-day street hockey tournament featuring teams and a variety of activities for friends and family. Blackburn Radio broadcasters will be on site and will compete in a celebrity street hockey match during the lunch hour. Participants and spectators will also have the opportunity to try a variety of sports demonstrations.

County of Lambton Health Promoter and chair of the CALL Committee, Anita Trusler said, “Community Active Living Lambton seeks opportunities to encourage Lambton County residents to be active. The Hiawatha 3 on 3 Street Hockey tournament is a great way to get in 60 minutes of physical activity and enjoy a great community event!"

The host committee, which includes students from Lambton College’s Sport and Recreation Administration Program, the City of Sarnia, Tourism Sarnia-Lambton, YMCA, County of Lambton, CHOK Radio and Sarniasports.com, are excited about hosting the event again and making it even better than last year. The countdown is on until the official “ball” drop.

“Sarnia-Lambton a true Hockey Town. We are rich in hockey tradition and we certainly share all Canadians’ passion for the sport. We are excited about providing this opportunity not only to our community, but visitors alike. Said Vicky Praill, Special Events and Group Marketing Co-ordinator for Tourism Sarnia-Lambton.
