Tim Hortons and Hogan Pharmacy Battle in March Break Bantam Final

Tim Hortons




The Bantam Division of the March Break Tournament saw fierce competition as the finals was decided after the last game in round robin was played.  With five teams competing that included four local and one London team the teams were evenly matched that saw four games that ended in ties throughout the competition.  Hogan Pharmacy came out on top with a total of 6 points going 3 - 1 in round robin.  Tim Hortons Yellow needed a tie in their final game to move on to the final round.  They finished with a total of 5 points with 1 win and three ties in the series.


In the Championship game Hogan Pharmacy and Tim Hortons Yellow met for the second time on the weekend.  Previously when the two teams met Hogan Pharmacy suffered their only loss against Tim Hortons taking a 6 - 1 loss in the round robin.


In the final game Tim Hortons came out on top winning the Bantam title by a score of 6 - 4.


After the first period both sides were even with a score of 1 - 1.  Hogan Pharmacy scored the first goal of the game with Verum Paidesh scoring assisted by Eric Lange and Jack Seoder.  Less than a minute later Tim Hortons answered back on a goal by Ty Espinola assisted by Jordan Walsh. 


In the second Tim Hortons regained the lead early goal in the period with Adam Kapteyn scoring assisted by Verum Paidesh.  Tim Hortons ran into penalty troubles that Hogan Pharmacy capitalized on scoring two back to back power play goals to give them the 3 - 2 lead heading into the third period.  The first power play goal was scored by Dylan Trapp asssited by Brody Jordan and the second power play goal was scored by Cameron Orrange from Kris Meads.

In the third Tim Hortons widened their lead to two just 22 seconds into the period with Orrange scoring his second goal unassisted.  Tim Hortons went on and took 5 - 2 lead when Kris Meads scored an unassisted shorthanded goal.  Despite being down Hogan Pharmacy team didn't give up and fought back and narrowed the lead by two when Adam Kapteyn scored his second of the game.  But Tim Hortonas regained that 3 goal spread when Ty Espinola scored with 1:10 left on the clock assisted by Kris Meads and Abby Miller.  Hogan Pharmacy continued to battle back and with 59 seconds remaining Verum Raidesh scored his second of the game to narrow the lead, but Tim Hortons held on and took the win and the Bantam Division Championship.


Outstanding goaltending by Nick Gardner for Tim Hortons and Lucas Gicchelli for Hogan who made many great saves despite taking the loss.
