Petrolia Squires Face Elimination
 Friday march 1, 2013

The Petrolia Squires are down three games to zero in WOAA Senior AA Semi final playoffs after taking a 6 - 3 loss in Petrolia last night against the Tavistock Royals.

James Edgar led the Squires scoring the first goal in the first minute of the game.  Shawn Waldie and Tyler Cicchini assisted on the goal.  Tavistock's Cody Hall answered back later in the period to tie the game.  The Squires once again took the lead scoring a power play goal.  Rob Vanwysbergh scored assisted by Dan Veenema and Tyler Lewis. The lead was short lived as Greg Virgo scored :12 seconds later also on a power play to even the score and then less than a minute later Tye Roth scored to give Tavistock the 3 - 2 lead heading into the second period.

In the second the Squires fought back and Breydon Belan scored from Aaron Scheiman and Adam McCallum to even the score once again.

Penalties continue to hurt the Squires as Cody Hall scored his second of the night and eventual game winner with 4:55 left in the second period to give Tavistock the 4 - 3 lead.

Action continued and Tavistock Reid Yantzi added to the scoreboard scoring the third power play goal and Josh Gaynor added one more before the game was over to cap the win.

Net minder Evan Groenstege earned the win for the Royals, Chris Houle took the loss.

The Squires are in a must win situation as they head to Tavistock Saturday for game four in the best of seven series.  Game time 8:30.
