Sarnia Rapids 1 Swim Team End of Season Results

Eight of the 32 swimmers from the Sarnia Rapids I Swim Team who participated in the St. Clair Erie Aquatic League (SEAL) Swim Championships in Leamington on April 27 and 28 earned ribbons for their efforts. Twelve swimmers established new personal best times in three or more individual events.
 

Breadan Babenko, 7, finished 4th in the 25m butterfly, and 5th in the 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke and 25m freestyle. Ciara Brown, 11, placed 5th in the 50m backstroke. Nadine Osmon, 11, came 4th in the 50m backstroke and added 6th place in the 100m Individual Medley, (IM). Kaiden Rawson, 10, finished 5th in the 50m breaststroke and 6th in the 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke. Kaiden placed in the top 10 in each of his individual events, as did Hayden Scott, 9, with a 4th place in the 100m IM and 6th place in the 25m butterfly and 50m freestyle.

Among the girls, Annabelle Rayson, 7, also earned all top 10 finishes, including a 6th place finish in the 25m breaststroke. Hunter Small, 13, cruised to five personal best times, shaving more than 12 seconds off his previous best in the 100m backstroke, and earned 4th place finishes in the 100m IM and 100m breaststroke, and 5th in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle. Luke Young, 14, finished 6th in the 100m backstroke, and also improved his times in each of his individual events.
 

Sean Foster, 9, Nes Tulang, 11, and Trista Walsh, 13, each improved their personal best times in three events. Hannah Lacey and Connor Phipps, both 13, each improved four of their personal best times, as did Sydney Moraal and Nik Mukherjee, both 9, and Allie Rawson, 8. Allie took almost 10 seconds off her time in the 100m IM.
 

Team members recorded other notable achievements. Samantha Bedard, 11, earned top 10 finishes in the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle in a group of more than 60 10- and 11-year-old girls. Jack Biggar, 11, had a strong meet, finishing in the top 10 in the 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke, while Burak Gurtekin, 9, also cracked the top 10 in two individual events – the 25m butterfly and 50m freestyle. A relay team made up of Taylor, Hayden, Burak and Sydney came 3rd among 8- and 9-year-olds in the mixed 200m freestyle event. Samantha, Nes, Kaiden and Nadine finished 4th in their mixed 200m freestyle relay among 10- and 11-year-olds.
 

Also swimming were Caelan Babenko, 9, McKenna Brown, 9, Dylan Cloud, 12, Rachel Dalton, 13, Fiona and Hannah Elliott, 10 (in their first meet in a new age group),  Jack Girardi, 8, Faith Jamieson, 11, Erin Lacey, 10, Samantha Lefebvre, 13, Taylor Marut, 8, Aynsley Persad, 14, and Sean Phipps, 10.
