Two local teams, Sarnia Canadiens and Bluewater Sharks battled for top spot in the Major Midget Division at the Bluewater Sharks Tournament held over the weekend.

The Sarnia Canadiens went 3-1 in round robin with their only loss against the Lakeville Dippers by a score of 3 - 2.  In the wins they shut out the Strathroy Rockets 3 - 0 and Mt Clemons Wolves 10 - 0 and in their 3rd win the Canadiens defeated the USA Eagles 5 - 3.

In the final the Canadiens went up against the tournament host Bluewater Sharks.  The game reflected two evenly matched local teams with regulation play ending in a 1-1 tie.  Sarnia Canadiens scored the first goal in the second period by Nick Zottl assisted by Brett Corrigan and the Sharks tied things up in the third with Matt Brandon scoring assisted by Cleo GUbbels

It took 4 minutes into the overtime period when Sarnia Canadiens forward Kirk Dorman feathered a beautiful pass to defenceman Connor McKinnon who then buried the tournament winning goal on a nice shot from the point.

The game was a goal tenders duel with both goaltenders Braden Palocz for the Canadiens and Steve Taylor for the Sharks making outstanding saves throughout the game.
