Sarnia FC U10 Red Machine took to the field last night for their home season opener against Petrolia. Despite a few nerves in the opening minutes, the boys settled into their positions and took control of the game and defeated Petrolia 5 - 0.
The defensive "Red Wall" of Matthew Gouveia, Wyatt Ladanchuk, Jordan Foster and Branyn Cooper was on fire. Their hustle and patience allowed the forwards to work the field and fire the ball into the net.
Goals scorers include Jacob Drapotoy, on a set up from Matthew Gouveia and Matteus Hartmann, Janzen Wark on a feed from Matthew Gouveia, Eric Larocque on a cross from Alex Weir, and two goals for Ewan Morrison on a down field pass from Branyn Cooper and a brilliant cross from Eric Larocque.
Excellent positional play and ball movement from Jacob Beaudoin and Matteus Hartmann helped the FC Red Machine maintain possession and keep the offensive pressure on.
Special mention to keeper Jeremy MacMillan who played brilliantly all game and earned the shut out.
The coaches are very proud of the team work and positive attitude shown by all the boys. Let's Go Red.
