St. Christopher Senior Ladies Rugby
St. Christopher Ladies completed the Cyclone sweep on Friday winning the LSSAA Senior title with a final score of 5 - 0 against the St. Clair Colts.
"It was a tough game, both teams both teams played excellent." said Cyclones Coach Melissa Parker "The St. Clair forwards really brought it, but I think our team really wanted to win and in the end we came out successful."
Previously in regular league action St. Christopher shut out St. Clair 28 - 0.
In the final the two teams battled hard and the game remained scoreless at the half. In the second the game was delayed after Cyclone player Avery Daamen suffered a knee injury and was taken off the field by ambulance.
Once play resume the two sides continue to go back and forth and with 3:51 left in regulation time Chelsea Bell took a pass and ran it in scoring the only try of the game to give the Cyclones the win.
"The girls have worked very hard in practice and they are going to continue to work hard for SWOSSA" Parker said
The Cyclones will travel to Blenheim on Wednesday to face the Blenheim Bobcats for the SWOSSA/AA title. Game time set for 4:00 pm.
Also competing in SWOSSA action next week LCCVI will travel to Chatham to take on Ursline College for the AAA title.
