The Sarnia Spirit U15 girls soccer team won their 2nd tournament of the year, winning the WOYSL Kick Off Classic in Woodstock this weekend.
The first game came with an aggressive attack from Sault Ste. Marie with the game ending in a 0 – 0 tie.
The second game was against Waterloo. The final score ended up 2 – 0 with the goals going to Kristy Hodgins, and Rayne Kellier.
This put the Sarnia Spirit team first in their division which gave them a bye to the semi-finals. The semi-final game proved to be the most intense game of the tournament. Final score after 50 minutes of play was 0 – 0 sending the game to a shoot-out to decide who will move on. Sarnia came out on top taking the win with a final score of 6 – 5. Goals scored by Emma Colman, Claire VandenEnde, Daphne Hibma, Chloe Kennedy, Katie Barwitski, and Kate Brady.
In the finals Sarnia went up against East Side Kickers from Windsor, a rematch whom they met in the finals at the tournament in Bowling Green where Sarnia downed the Kickers with a final score of 10 - 1.
In this final game Spirit started off well in this game with an early goal and what turned out to be the game winner by Chloe Kennedy as the Spirit took the win and Tournament Cup with a final score of 1 - 0.
