Bluewater Sharks Entertained 26 Teams with Two Local Players Reaching the Finals

The Bluewater Sharks entertained 26 team this past weekend May 24-26/2013 featuring 3 divisions
While no local teams earned hardware in the 2001 division there were 2 Sarnia players who reached the championship finals with Regional Express before falling to the Indy Wings in the title game.
The Regional Express team advance with a 4 - 2 semi final win over Powertech Hockey from Windsor.
The other Semi Final game saw Local Team Vision Green falling in overtime to the Indy Wings from Indianapolis, thus advancing Indy into the final against Regional Express.
In the final the Indy Wings came out on top by a score of 5 - 1.
Goaltender Liam McCarthy, who plays for the Lambton AAA Sting and forward Nick Steeves, who represents the Sarnia A/AA Sting each played well to help Regional Express reach the finals. McCarthy was named MVP of the title game for Regional and also played a big role in their 4-2 semi-final win over PowerTek Hockey, turning aside 37 shots in the victory. Steeves scored a couple of key goals in round robin action.
The 2002 Division had 6 teams entered and this included 2 local team Vision Hockey and Planet Stitch Warriors, but both failed to advance to Sunday finals which saw the Powertech Hockey out of Windsor win the game by a 3 to 1 count over the Victory Hoday Team out of Detroit and capture top honors.
The 2003 had 9 teams vying for gold and had the lone Vision team as a local product, but failing to advance past round robin play.
The semi finals saw # 1 ranked Hockey Training Above Handling the Orange Crush team from Chatham and shutting them off the scoreboard with a 6 to 0 beating.
The other semi-final saw the # 2 ranked Xcelerate hockey outscoring the London Renegades by a convincing 10 to 2 margin
Thus setting up the finals where the # 2 ranked Xcelerate upset the # 1 ranked Hockey Training Above Lightning team by a score of 3 to 1 and winning top honours in the 2003 division.
