Sarnia Braves Minor Mosquito St. Thomas Tournament Champions

On May 24th, 25th and 26th, the Sarnia Braves Minor Mosquito baseball team traveled to St. Thomas for their first tournament of the year. 16 teams had entered the ball tournament that the St. Thomas Cardinals hold annually.

 

The Braves faced the Mississauga Bengals Friday night and won 10-9 in the final inning. Tyler Winship hit a 2 run RBI triple in the 5th inning to tie the game. Winship then stole home on a wild pitch to win the game.

 

The Braves faced East York Saturday morning and won 21-7. Kristofer Lotz hit a home run with Ryan Steeves hitting a triple and Reece Goodall hitting a double.

 

Saturday afternoon, the Braves played Ajax and mercied them 18-0 after 4 innings. Reece Goodall hit a triple and Kristofer Lotz hit a double.

 

In the semi finals, the Braves won over the Peterborough Tigers 11-9. Yanic Babcock hit a home run and Zach Fields hit a double.

 

The Braves faced Oakville in the finals and won 13-5. Pitchers Zion Ainsworth and Kristofer Lotz gave up only 3 walks over 7 innings.

 

Ty Golden was the Braves’ MVP for his great sportsmanship and defensive play.
