MAMMOTHS
2013 SMAA BANTAM PLAYOFF CHAMPIONS

An exciting ending took place in the Bantam Championship game as the third place Sylvan Learning Centre Bears played the fourth place Mammoet Crane Incorporated Mammoths.

The Bears got on the board first thanks to an electrifying 104 yard run by Josh Clubb.  The lead was increased to 12-0 early in the second quarter as Clubb struck again, this time from 92 yards.  The Mammoths countered this score with a long drive that culminated on a 4 yard run by Travis Conrad.  The final scoring of the half came on Clubb's third touchdown and a convert from Andrew Fraser as the Bears held a seemingly comfortable 20-6 lead at the half.

Kody Lyon's 3 yard run in the third quarter and Garrett Patterson's convert narrowed the lead to 20-14 after three quarters.  With the Mammoths pinned deep in their zone, head coach Craig Davies surrendered a safety resulting in an 8 point lead for the Bears.

With time running out the Mammoths began their final drive.  This drive culminated on an 18 yard touchdown run by Mac Fiddy on the last play of the game.  In order to tie the game, Garrett Patterson needed to kick a 2 point convert, which was successful in doing.  This sent the game to a shootout.

The Bears had the ball first and were unable to score.  The Mammoth's first possession resulted in a 3 yard touchdown by Kody Lyon and their second dramatic come from behind win in their 2 playoff games this year.
