Lambton Jr. Sting Major Atom AAA Win 3 in a Row

monday november 18, 2013

The Lambton Jr. Sting continue to impress in Major Atom Alliance AAA play winning their third straight game on Sunday in Hamilton.

The Hamilton Huskies got things started scoring 5:31 into the first period of play but Lambton came back with a goal of their own just 33 seconds later when Bradyn Santavy scored on a beautiful pass from centre Derek Esselment. Winger, Carson Peer also assisted on the goal. Unfortunately, the Huskies took an early 3 – 1 lead in the second period of play but the Jr. Sting battled back and would score two of their own before the end of the period, tying the game up at 3 – 3. The line of Peer – Esselment – Santavy would score their second goal of the game when Santavy made an awesome pass out front that Peer would bury to cut the Huskies’ lead to 3 - 2. Esselment would also get credited with his 2nd assist of the game on the play.  Before the end of the period, Andrew Lemieux would score his first of 2 on the day, with just 1:31 left in the second frame from line mates Carter Viglasky and Ryder Nienhuis.

Heading in to the 3rd tied at threes, the Jr. Sting took control of the game when Lemieux scored on a shorthanded breakaway just 1:13 into the period when captain Ryder Nienhuis passed the puck up to spring Lemieux on the breakaway chance. Nienhuis would score one of his own late in the game from Lemieux and Viglasky to solidify Lambton’s fouth win of the season.

Goaltenders, Kaden Gray and Blake Foster, were stellar between the pipes, turning away 20 of the 23 shots they faced.
