Atom House League Week 3 Results

november 19, 2013

By Lincoln Simpson

The first Saturday morning in November saw four great Atom House League hockey games in Sarnia. McDonald’s Yellow and Blue, Grey and White, Red and Green, and Orange and Black went toe to toe.

In the early game, McDonald’s Yellow and Blue set a quick pace for their game and all the games to follow. Yellow hopped out to the quick lead in the first. Adam Walker, Declan Richie, and Caeden Espinola each found the back of the net. In the last four minutes of the period though, Owen Pereira (From Chris Latosinsky) and Owen Dufor drew Blue back to within one. In the second period, Pereira rode the momentum from the late push in the first and knotted the game at 3 a side with his second of the game. Later in the same period though, Adam Walker got his second of the game as well, and put an end to Blue’s push. It was all Yellow in the third as Walker netted two more goals to bring his total for the game to 4, and Ritchie scored again too. Yellow closed out a strong 7-3 win.

Next up were McDonald’s Grey and White. Grey wasted little time getting out in front after a goal each from Tony Vairo and Aiden Healey (from Carter Brown). In the second Mitchell Clarke held White off the scoreboard while teammates Nolan Jennings and Eathan Wark pushed their team in front a little farther. The third period seemed to be more of the same with Jennings getting two more, bringing his game total to four goals but Craig Washington (from Weir) and Kyle Moore finally put their team on the board to break the goose egg. Unfortunately for White they ran out of time with the clock showing 7-2.

In the third spot of the morning, McDonald’s Red and Green took to the ice. Connor Maness put home the first goal of the game for Green. This goal was answered by Xander Stafford nearly a minute later to pull the game back to all square. Koleton Parkkila and Kody Heaman then extended the Red lead to 3-1 scoring one after another in quick succession. In the second, Mason Minielly scored thrice in a row netting the natural hat trick. Aiden Matuzic helped Green’s cause with one of his own however and going into the third the score was 6-2 for Red. In the final period Costa Columbo sniped one home for Green but Ashyon Ramos (from Matt Davies) and Ryan Proulx answered for Red and drove home the 8-3 win for Red.

And still in the Halloween spirit were McDonald’s Black and Orange as they faced off in the final game of the morning. Jazen Wark got his first after the shuffle and put his new Orange team up 1-0 after a single period of play. In the second Ewan Morrison popped in two quick goals of his own for Orange, only to be answered by a hat trick from Black’s Chase Nickels and an excellent goal from Nick Cottom. After two the scoreboard showed a very close 4-3 advantage for Black. Ewan Morrison finished off the hat trick off the pretty pass from Sebastian Pyette tying the game. Anthony Bullock netted another for Orange but Black kicked back with a goal each from Aaron Coene, Chase Nickels, and Quintin Bouma. The final in this one was 7-5 for Black. And with that we end another great (high scoring) week in McDonald’s Atom House League Hockey.
