The PeeWee Division was in action on Monday September 30 at Norm Perry Park.
In the opener the Purdy Fisheries Storm took on the Optimist Cub of Sarnia Lakeshore Vortex. These 2 teams battled to a scoreless draw in the first half. In the third quarter, the Storm were first on the board courtesy of a 67 yard touchdown run by Ethan Kerby. Brody Phillips kicked a 2 point convert staking the Storm to an 8-0 lead. This score remained unchanged until the fourth quarter when Ethan Barnes increased the margin to 14-0 on a 1 yard plunge. The Vortex did not give up and narrowed the lead to 14-6 following a 36 yard touchdown scamper by Matthew Gouveia. Kerby rambled closed out the scoring as he rambled in from 47 yards out completing a 20-6 victory by the Storm.
In the nightcap the first place Rob Simrak Magic Realty Sky Fire had their hands full against the rapidly improving Cupe Local 1238 Avengers. Lucas Clubb opened the scoring for the Avengers on a 54 yard dash around the left end. Aiden Wildfong returned the ensuing kickoff 65 yards to knot the score at 6. With only 13 seconds left in the first half, Avery Smiley sped 42 yards into the end zone giving the Sky Fire their first lead of the game. 12-6. Midway through the third quarter, Lucas Clubb countered with his second major of the game, this time on a 33 yard run, tying the score at 12. With time winding down, Smiley again counted a major for the Sky Fire from 3 yards out earning them a hard fought 18-12 victory.
